Freelance journalist, writer, photographer, and Rome expert.
I—surprise!—live in Rome. Tired of hearing visitors to Rome tell me that they'd eaten at an overrated restaurant or that they'd never heard of a great museum, I decided to start this blog as a catch-all for the "insider's knowledge" I've gleaned living here.
Can't get enough? I just updated about half of the Fodor's Rome 2012 guidebook. I regularly write for the New York Times' In Transit section, the Guardian and The American, as well as for New York Magazine, National Geographic Traveller, Budget Travel, The Atlantic, Global Post, Lexus, Mariner, Mother Jones, World Policy Journal, and U.S. News & World Report. And I have an upcoming turn on the History Channel as one of the hosts for a documentary on the Roman emperor Caligula (airing in March 2012).
You can read some of my previous work at the my "My Clips" page on my blog, or find out more about my writing career at www.amandaruggeri.com. I have a photo blog at www.exposeditaly.com.
